Guests of Honour: Liz Lawson, Community Learning Team, Pre-Employment and Basic Skills Division, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and Gillian Reay HMI, Senior HMI, North-East and the Humber and National Lead, Community Learning and Skills, Ofsted

This timely seminar will be an opportunity to consider the future direction of community learning policy in England.

It will be informed by lessons from the Community Learning Trust Pilots that are being be taken forward by all community learning providers following the release of the recent external evaluation.

Areas for discussion include further steps that can be taken to help community learning providers secure additional investment and to develop local partnerships - as well as action that can be taken to improve participation, success and satisfaction rates for learners, and to engage priority and disadvantaged groups in community learning.

We are delighted that Liz Lawson, Community Learning Team, Pre-Employment and Basic Skills Division, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills; Gillian Reay HMI, Senior HMI, North-East and the Humber and National Lead, Community Learning and Skills, Ofsted and Dr Cheryl Turner, Head of Learning in Communities, NIACE have kindly agreed to deliver keynote addresses at this seminar.

Mike Attwell, Education Director and lead Director for East and West Midlands, Workers’ Educational Association; Neil Coker, Senior Director, Access, Solihull College; Paul Essery, Chief Executive, Liquid Networks; Suzanna Jackson, Warden, Mary Ward Settlement; Judith McManus, Head of Operations, Aspire Sussex; Dr Toni Sant, Education Advisor, Wikimedia UK and Tom Wilson, Director, Unionlearn have also agreed to speak, together with senior speakers confirmed from Luton Adult Education and National Numeracy.
