The PASCAL Centre in Africa recently hosted a meeting of the Strengthening the Regional Engagement Role of Universities in Africa and Asia (SRERUAA) project in Cape Town.
The PASCAL Centre for Africa, in partnership with CENLED (under the Auspices of The University of Johannesburg) and the BELGIUM CAMPUS iTversity, presents its showcase prestigious flagship conference in Africa that will provide a platform for all our public and private sector participants to rethink and reinvent the way that the international community shapes and forms the field of education, government, job creation, products and services that use new “trends” in the global and local economy, social environment, demographics spheres and the never ending field of new technology.
Congratulations to Professor Michael Osborne and Dr Katarzyna Borkowska of the School of Education, University of Glasgow, on having "A European lens upon adult and lifelong learning in Asia" published in Asia Pacific Education Review. The Adult Education Quarterly (AEQ) is an international, scholarly, refereed journal committed to advancing the understanding and practice of adult and continuing education. AEQ is currently interested in research exploring a broad range of topics in the field of adult education, specifically surrounding Learning Societies and Learning Cities.

Job Purpose: To make a leading contribution to the project Educational Disadvantage and Place within the Education programme of the ESRC-funded Urban Big Data Centre. Specifically, the job requires expert knowledge in the area of educational disadvantage and/or urban neighbourhoods, and strong proven skills in the quantitative analysis of large data sets.
CR&DALL is delighted to report that Associate Dr Katarzyna Borkowska was invited to the city of Taipei to present at the International Conference on Learning Cities from 21-24 November 2016. Professor Michael Osborne also presented a paper (virtually) and received an award.
At the Network’s last conference in 2015, hosted by our colleagues at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, we discussed how substantial learning is connected with the everyday life of adults, with the environment and social milieus they live in, with their efforts to tackle social inequalities, injustices, and to enhance their quality of life and well-being.

The Annual Conference is the high point of the UALL year, and we are pleased that the 2017 Conference will be held at the Monkbar Hotel, York between Wednesday, 5 and Friday, 7 April.
