In collaboration with the UK National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO Scotland and with Learning and Teaching Scotland, CR&DALL mounted a major international symposium on the significance of literacies – at the University of Glasgow on the 10th of September 2010.

A distinguished panel of speakers, comprising Professor Michael Omolewa (University of Ibadan), Dr. Cesar Guadalupe (UNESCO), Dr. Adama Ouane (UNESCO),  Professor Bridget Fowler (University of Glasgow), Professor Lalage Bown (University of Glasgow), Dr. Ralf St. Clair (University of Glasgow), Professor Kay Livingston (Learning and Teaching Scotland) and Michael Cross (Scottish Government) addressed a capacity audience and dynamic workshop sessions were led by staff from the collaborating agencies.
