The Centre for Open Learning at the University of Edinburgh seek External Examiner

The Centre for Open Learning at the University of Edinburgh is looking for a new External Examiner in foundation maths.

Duties in 2021/22 will include oversight of the Introduction to Quantitative Data Analysis course on the International Foundation Programme. From 2022/23 this will also include oversight of new maths provision on the Access Programme.
 
These courses will equip students with the mathematical and software skills required to confidently embark on further undergraduate study in the University's College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Courses will focus primarily on statistics/ probability for social sciences with some calculus required for students progressing to degrees in economics. 
 
A broad academic background in the use of maths in social sciences will be required and recent experience of learning and teaching at university-foundation or first-year undergraduate level would be preferred. As per the University of Edinburgh’s External Examiner’s for Taught Programmes Policy, candidates should normally be resident in the UK and able to attend a minimum of one Exam Board per year in person.
