SOLIDARITY YOUTH

Solidarity Project from a Special School in Córdoba continues receiving awards

The Special School "Juana Manso" from Villa Allende, Cordoba, has a historic and deep commitment to work with its community. It offers primary and secondary level education with a major in auxiliary carpenter, auxiliary horticultural worker and auxiliary baker.

The current institutional project, called "Inclusive school table" arises from the need to have a table adapted for students with specific needs to work. Aimed at different institutions attended by children and youth with motor disabilities, fourth , fifth and sixth year students of Labor Training designed and manufactured a school table with wheelchair cutouts, adjustable lecterns and edges to prevent supply dropping. The need for furniture with special characteristics and the fact that they are not manufactured in the area encouraged students and young people with motor disabilities from "Blanca Estela Feit" Special School in the city of Córdoba, to develop the project.

The Special School "Juana Manso" also constructs diverse types of wooden canes that are delivered for free to the elderly from Villa Allende and surrounding areas.
They have been awarded the "Escuelas Solidarias" Presidential Award on four occasions: Two First Prizes (2016 and 2014) and two mentions (in 2011 and 2009), as well as other awards.
