Lifelong Learning Platform: Invitation to online discussion "Lifelong Learning for Sustainable Societies", 27 May

News

On behalf of the Lifelong Learning Platform: European Civil Society for Education (LLLP), I would like to invite you to the online discussion Lifelong Learning for Sustainable Societies on 27 May at 14.00-15.30.

Exploring our annual theme for 2020, this discussion will look at the 'sustainability' of education and training systems in the broad sense of the word in view of the various societal challenges that we are facing. Indeed, the current health crisis has shown how fragile, unprepared and underfunded many of our education systems are. LLLP believes that sustainability - of learning and of education systems as a whole - shall be the polar star for Europe for the years to come; in particular, for our communities to be sustainable (socially, environmentally and economically) we believe that we should start by rendering our education systems sustainable. “Sustainable learning” is defined as inclusive, learner-centred, and fostering personal development: just like our societies should be.

For more information please consult the draft programme. Speakers will include representatives of the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the EU, the European Commission (Cabinet of Vice-President Margaritis Schinas) and UNESCO.

If you would like to participate please register here by 25 May

Kind regards,

Andrew Todd
