We are delighted to call for papers for the 4th International ProPEL Conference 2019, hosted by the University of Technology Sydney. The deadline has been extended to 3 April 2019.

About ProPEL

ProPEL is a collaborative, multi-professional international network, launched in 2010 at the University of Stirling, to promote research and knowledge exchange in issues of professional education, practice and learning. Conferences draw scholars from a range of countries, disciplines and theoretical orientations. More information and updates are available on the blog ProPEL Matters.

Conference theme

The main theme of the conference this year is Provocations and Possibilities. We are particularly keen to shine a light on the unspoken, unseen, unasked and intangible during this conference. We invite you to uncover and examine these from multiple perspectives and to contemplate future directions, opportunities and potential. Our aim is to foster as much conversation between delegates as possible. Thus, we welcome a diverse range (eg conceptual, empirical, and methodological) of submissions that provoke, propose and problematise professional learning and professions.

The conference has 10 sub-themes:

  • Sites of professional work
  • Digital disruptions, learning and technologies
  • Ethics and responsibilities (re)imagined
  • Space | Time | Materiality
  • Knowledge and ignorance
  • Questioning professions and professionals
  • Methodologies and methods
  • Professional education
  • Learning in practice
  • What is becoming or what questions aren't we asking?

Call for Papers

We welcome submissions for: Individual papers, Symposia (for three or more presenters who all focus on the same theme) and Posters (poster presenters will be also invited to present their research in 3 minute thesis (3MT) presentation).
