Role of ALE in the Development of Local Communities

An international conference took place in Chisinau, Moldova on 9-10 November 2022 on the role of ALE in the development of local communities with extensive participation from Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo and the Ukraine. It was part of the DVV International Regional Project for Eastern Neighbours and jointly organized with the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA). In addition to the countries mentioned above there were interesting case studies also from Germany, Greece and Sweden as well as the European Training Foundation (ETF).

Apart from the host country - the largest delegation came from the Ukraine. Participants showed a lot of solidarity and were highly interested in all the acticivities which were implemented despite of the war and crisis precipated by the Russion intervention and destruction.

The conference was opened by representatives like the Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Chisinau, from the Ministry of Education and Research of Moldova, DVV International and EAEA. Two keynotes followed: Professor Michael Osborne, Director of CR&DALL spoke on "The Leadership Role of Local Authorities in delivering of SDG", and Professor Heribert Hinzen continued with a presentation on  "Cooperation between Local Authorities and Adult Education Centres: Policies and Practices, Examples and Experiences". Both set the scene for deepening the discourse through the highly interesting country reports and the contributions to the debates discussion groups and the final plenary.
