adult learning and education - Africa

The UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), with DVV International and the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE), cordially invite you to two webinars on Enhancing national capacities for monitoring adult learning and education - Africa in support of the data collection process for the upcoming fifth Global Report on Adult Learning and Education (GRALE 5).

Based on information collected in the GRALE survey, GRALE monitors the progress of Member States against the Belém Framework for Action (BFA) and the Recommendation on Adult Learning and Education (RALE), and provides an overview of emerging trends and challenges in the field of adult learning and education (ALE).

The fifth edition of GRALE, with a thematic focus on citizenship education, will be launched at the seventh International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VII), which is to take place in Morocco in June 2022.

The webinars will bring together national stakeholders in each region, with the view of reinforcing national capacities in monitoring and assessing ALE developments through the lenses of the BFA and the RALE, with a focus on GRALE 5. Accurate data and sound analysis support policy-makers, researchers and practitioners in realizing the potential benefit of ALE, which in turn helps them to promote relevant policies, provide adequate financing, and establish monitoring mechanisms to assess the quality of learning and progress in ALE policy and practice.

Focal points from UNESCO Member States who are responsible for filling out the GRALE 5 survey will be offered a separate, closed session to inform them about the technical details of the online survey.
