The label of social economy is broad, encompassing a range of economic activities and organisations which share the attribute of NOT being driven for profit; thus social economy can be seen as an important alternative to modern capitalist production.

Marketization of education is a global phenomenon (Ball, 2007; Burch, 2009) and has also gained increased research interest during the last three decades, not least in terms of research on school choice and its consequences (Lundahl et al., 2014).

Glasgow - the Nurturing City

We hear of a lot of city titles, and CR&DALL susbcribers may be interested in one of the titles used here in Glasgow - the Nurturing City. I attach my own report to the city's Children and Families Policy Development Committee, and a report of research undertaken by the University of Stirling. I look forward to your comments.

International Perspectives on Learning with Technologies: Challenges, developments and solutions - 20 May, 1300, Glasgow

This seminar will examine global perspectives on learning with technologies.  The presenters bring a unique range of expertise from Scotland, the European Union, Malaysia/Asia and Southern Africa/Malawi.


 We will share the challenges and difficulties faced in implementing technologies in teaching and learning, and some of the developments and solutions that bring promise of enhancement. We also will discuss recent research, and illustrate with local examples.
