CR&DALL Connectivity

CR&DALL is strongly linked internationally to specialist groups concerned with lifelong learning such as UNESCO’s Institute for Lifelong Learning, the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (DVV) and the Asia Europe Meeting Forum for Lifelong Learning (ASEM LLL Hub). For UNESCO, Ellen Boeren was co-editor of  the 4th Global Report on Adult and Lifelong Learning (GRALE IV), and Mike Osborne and Catherine Lido have been major contributors to UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities, including as authors of papers for its 4th international conference in Medellin, Colombia in 2019, and 5th conference in 2021 in Yoen-su, Republic of Korea. Mike Osborne is also an Advisory Group member to the UNESCO/IAU Study, Universities Contribution to LLL, and leads Research Network 4 of the ASEM LL Hub. Lesley Doyle and Muir Houston are also active members of other research clusters in the hub.

Ellen Boeren is a Member, European Commission’s Education and Training 2020 Working Group on Adult Learning and Vocational Education and Training, an expert network for DG EMPLOY. She is also one of only two non-German advisers to the Deutsches Institute fur Erwachsenenbildung (German Institute for Adult Education) (DIE).

Nicki Hedge is an invited member of the International Expert Review Group for the UK Prevention Research Partnership (UKPRP), an initiative to support multidisciplinary research teams investigating the upstream environmental determinants of health relevant to a range of non-communicable diseases and is an external adviser for the Chilean National Research Center in Inclusive Education.

CR&DALL hosts the PASCAL Observatory and through PASCAL’s role in the umbrella of the 'Big Tent' network has established many other collaborative links with a number of significant players in the field of community-engaged research in universities. These organisations include the Global Alliance for Community-based Research (GACER), Asia Pacific Community University Engagement Network (APUCEN), Centro Bolivianos de Estudios Multidisciplinarios (CEBEM)Commonwealth University Extension and Engagement Network, Global University Network for Innovation (GUNI), Living Knowledge Network, Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), the Service Learning Asia Network (SLAN), the Talloires Network and the UNESCO Chair in  Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education. Together these organisations have produced seven international communiqués on community engagement in HE, which have been disseminated very widely in Higher Education.

Through its suite of research projects, CR&DALL is also connected to some 100+ research organisations In Europe, Asia, Africa, Australasia, North and Latin America, details of which are found in the Projects Section (LINK).
