Summary biography:
Celita Eccher is a feminist popular educator. She studied at the University of the Republic of Uruguay (UDELAR). She is a Social worker and was also a professor at the Department of Social Work of the University of Social Sciences. Her other learning spaces were the Rural Craftwomen’s Cooperatives in Uruguay and the women’s movement. She was the General Coordinator of the Popular Education Network of Women from Latin America and the Caribbean (REPEM). She was also the Regional Coordinator of Development Alternatives with Women for a New Era (DAWN), networks to which I belong and appreciate. At present Celita is the Secretary General of the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE). She has been part of the International Council of the World Social Forum since its very beginning.
