Summary biography:
Sir Peter Scott is emeritus Professor of Higher Education Studies at University College London in the Institute of Education (IoE), Faculty of Education and Society. He was Scotland’s first Commissioner for Fair Access from 2016 until 2021. Previously he was Chair of the Council of the University of Gloucestershire (2011-2015), Vice-Chancellor of Kingston University London (1998-2010), Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Professor of the Education at the University of Leeds (1992-1997), and Editor of the Times Higher Education Supplement (THES) (1976-1992). He has also been a member of the board of the (former) Higher Education Funding Council for England, chair of the Universities Association for Lifelong Learning and President of the Brussels based Academic Cooperation Association. His most recent book is ‘Retreat or Resolution? Tackling the Crisis of Mass Higher Education’ (2021).
