Stephen McKinney is a Professor of Education and Head of the Pedagogy, Praxis and Faith Research and Teaching Group (RTG) at the University of Glasgow. His research interests include: Catholic Schools; Catholic Education; Faith Schooling; Religious Education; Sectarianism; Sectarianism and Faith schools; Poverty, deprivation and school education; Social Justice and Catholic schools.

Stephen McKinney is a Professor of Education and Head of the Pedagogy, Praxis and Faith Research and Teaching Group (RTG) at the University of Glasgow. He is a visiting professor in Catholic Education at Newman University in Birmingham and is an Associate Member of the Irish Institute of Catholic Studies. He is a past President of the Scottish Educational Research Association and continues to serve on the Executive. He is a member of the European Educational Research Association Council. He is a past co-editor of the Scottish Educational Review. He is on the editorial boards of a number of international academic journals including: The Journal of Beliefs and Values, Improving Schools, and FWU Journal.
