New Challenges to Education: Lessons from Around the World – this is the theme of the XIX Annual International Conference of the Bulgarian Comparative Education Society (BCES). The Conference dates are 22 - 25 June 2021.

The Canadian Journal for the Study of Adult Education (CJSAE) is pleased to announce the publication of its latest issue: Learning and Teaching: Artful Narratives of Transformation. Guest editors, Drs. Carole Roy and Kathy Mantas, have created an issue that includes a virtual art exhibition–a first for this journal.
This briefing paper highlights some of the more specific policies for the city of Medellin (Colombia) from 2004 to 2019, which contributed to reducing the rates of violence by focusing on developing community cohesion while tackling both crime and inequality. It contributes to the overall research project which seeks to create a detailed understanding of the infrastructure, engagement, resources and policies required to educationally transform a community and move towards peacebuilding.
This special issue arises from the urgency expressed by many adult educator practitioners and theorists for the need to draw attention to the numerous sites of community activism, learning and social change that are currently taking place across the globe.
