Europe’s labour force is getting older, but not enough adults participate in learning. In 2014, just over 10% of adults (aged between 25 and 64) participated in lifelong learning, well below the European Union’s (EU’s) target benchmark of 15% by 2020. There are signs that more employers are providing training, but other changes are needed to encourage adults to learn more.
Colleges Scotland recently commissioned EMSI to undertake a collective Economic Impact Study for colleges across the whole of Scotland. The report has now been completed and the results will be announced at a launch in Edinburgh on Thursday 10th September.
With a capital expenditure of £800m over 10 years, the Smart Campus project is the largest project in the University of Glasgow’s history and a major investment in national educational infrastructure. This will be the centre piece of the latest PASCAL Learning Cities Networks (LCN) Social Inclusion Workshop to be held in Glasgow on 18 September and hosted by the Centre for Research and Development in Adult and Lifelong Learning (CR&DALL).
