"Learning and Living in Diverse Communities" was the theme of the conference that took place in the House of Civic Communities in the city of Pécs, Hungary, in June 2019. It was the 11^th conference which the specialized network on “Between Global and Local – Adult Learning and Communities” of the European Society on the Research for the Education of Adults (ESREA) has been organizing ever since 2006.

The COVID-19 pandemic has a strong impact on all of us in the field of education and lifelong learning. For adult learning and education and related institutional settings like Adult Education or Community Learning Centers it is extremely difficult as their transformation into the on-line and digital world of learning is not possible without respective financial backing and professional expertise. ASPBAE, the Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult Education, has just published a Statement with a situation analysis and recommendations for support.
