Preparations are well underway for the Adult Education in Global Times Conference which SCUTREA will be involved in as one of eight partnering organisations. This conference will be held at the University of British Columbia 4-7 June 2020 – see the SCUTREA website and edst.educ.ubc.ca/aegt2020.
The draft National Education Policy (NEP) of India (featured below) has many important suggestions to make higher education more purposive towards enabling India to achieve its constitutional vision and future aspirations. On the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, for Dr Rajesh Tandon, UNESCO Co-Chair in Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education, the draft NEP must be informed by Gandhi’s vision for higher education in India.
Education in Greece at the upper secondary level is dominated by the Panhellenic exams; they will decide to which university a student will go and what they will study. Little thought is given to upper secondary vocational education and training (VET) for 16 to 18 year-olds, even though it can offer better job prospects than general education.
