Community-based adult education is an important component working towards a system of lifelong learning. Institutions of education, training and learning change in many respects in the age of globalization and digitalization. But in as much as we believe in the importance of kindergarten, schools, vocational and higher education and struggle to support them as institutions, adult education also needs an institutional back-up.
An interdisciplinary workshop on 18th June 2018 at the University of Glasgow brings together views, perspectives, and insights from international policy makers and academics on effective learning and training for inclusive and sustainable socio- economic development of marginalised populations globally. According to the recent Human Development Report (2016) by UNDP average human development has improved globally; yet marginalized sections continue to suffer basic forms of deprivation.
The Fourth Conference of the ESREA Network on Policy Studies in Adult Education “Adult Education and Learning Policy in a World Risk Society” will take place on 16-18 May 2019, at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Prague, the Czech Republic.
The PROFIT project has completed its second year of development and is well under way to delivering its financial awareness platform to the public for educational, institutional and corporate uses. Stay tuned for the PROFIT platform prototype later this summer!

We were delighted to be able to host Professor Bruce Wilson, Director of the EU Centre at RMIT in Melbourne, and honorary professor in the School of Education at the University of Glasgow on 29 May 2018 to present a seminar concerning the role of the EU in the implementation of the SDGs in Asia. Bruce was able to provide a detailed insight into the role of the EU as a global leader in international development (both its commitments and the challenges in achieving these), and in particular the mechanisms by which it operates.
