Making the Commitment: Contributions of Higher Education to SDGs - Dr Rajesh Tandon

United Nations system universally adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015 as beacon for socially, economically and ecologically sustainable development. This Agenda 2030 establishes 17 Goals which are universally applicable for all countries of the world[i]. Within this globally agreed universally applicable SDGs, each country (and many provinces) have developed (or are in the process of developing) specific nationally and locally relevant benchmarks and indicators for achieving these commitments.
 

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Action Event, New York

Around 500 participants from all 193 UN Member States participated at the High-Level SDG Action Event on Education at headquarters of UN in New York. The high-level event included participation of the President of the General Assembly, the UN Deputy Secretary-General, the Director-General of UNESCO, High-level representatives from Member States (including Ministers) and observers, women, young stakeholders, civil society, UN agencies, education experts, innovators and other relevant stakeholders.
