Colleagues we hope will be interested to read this article published in Times Higher Education about the work of Sherwan Taha, a former University of Glasgow Masters student, in fostering learning city development in Iraqi Kurdistan. We congratulate him on his efforts.
Work is beginning on a new research project led by a 6-party EU consortium that aims to deliver a user-interactive online platform for the enhancement of financial capability. The PROFIT platform (PromotingFinancial Awareness and Stability) brings together researchers and professionals with expertise across accounting and finance, economics, information technology, computer/software engineering and education, along with a range of private, third-sector and institutional partners.
Particularly worth noting in this edition are calls for papers relating to the EUCEN conference in Dublin (see Conferences), the Journal of Vocational Education and Training: Special Issue on VET and race/ ethnicity, and the Journal of International Mobility: Issue No 4 on mobility and skills (see Publications), and an update on the Competence 2016 conference in Wageningen (see Conferences).
Global policies on education and lifelong learning influence regional, national and local policies. Historically the de-colonization period was a new beginning, but often led with a bad ending. A very important milestone in developing a global education agenda was the World Education Forum in 2000 in Dakar, and the then agreed Framework for Action on Education for All.
