CR&DALL Seminar Series: Adult Education in New Zealand|Aotearoa: Hope or despair?

Adult Education in New Zealand has been in a cycle of hope and despair for many years. There were significant cuts to funding in 2010 and the sector has not been greatly valued. However, a new coalition government was elected in 2017 has breathed new life into the sector with the promise of new policy settings and a five-year Tertiary Education Strategy that acknowledges the role that the ACE sector can play. This session will outline the past, present and possible future shape of ACE in New Zealand and the accompanying challenges and opportunities.

University of Glasgow collaborates with former School of Education PhD students in SFC-funded gender equality project in Africa

The kick-off meeting for The Equality Project: Starting From Home (TEP) took place in Nairobi, Kenya between the 16th and 19th October. This project brings together partner researchers from the Universities of Glasgow, Strathmore, Dar es Salaam, and Botswana as well as local NGOs to pilot a new programme of workshops exploring gender equality at a household level by engaging with both men and women.
