Associate Professor / Professor - William G. Davis Chair in Community College Leadership

The Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education (LHAE) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The successful candidate will also hold the endowed William G. Davis Chair in Community College Leadership for a 5-year term, renewable following a favourable review. The appointment will commence on January 1, 2024 or shortly thereafter.

Given the increasing numbers of people affected by humanitarian crises, the right to lifelong learning for people in emergency contexts requires urgent attention. Emergencies caused by armed conflict and instability, disasters and hazards, pandemics and the effects of global climate change, disrupt education at every level.

In the year 2021 an initiative was taken towards a Global Bildung Day. Bildung is an expression which includes education, learning, socialization, training all in a lifelong, lifewide and lifedeep perspective. The Mission Statement includes: “Better Bildung. Better Future. We honestly believe in that: The world would be a wiser, safer, more friendly, sustainable, and meaningful place with more bildung.

Professor Parker will be sharing her recent book 'Taking Flight: Making Your Center for Teaching and Learning Soar', emerging from her work in the Center for Teaching Excellence and Faculty Leadership, at UNC-Wilmington.

Michele's work centres around transforming departmental culture, such as 'Empowering a department through Appreciative Inquiry', and will include her recent cross-continental work on course design between Ethiopia and the USA.

Please join us if you are interested in school leadership at any level, as well as in learning more about appreciative inquiry approaches to staff development in different cultural contexts.
