UBDC Data Workshop: Integrated Multimedia City Data (iMCD) - October 1st, 2018

This free 1-day event is part of a planned data workshop series at the Urban Big Data Centre. In the first in the series we will focus on the data and collection methods of our unique, cutting edge Integrated Multimedia City Data (iMCD) project. The purpose of this workshop is to help understand the data better, develop research ideas, share experiences, and explore collaboration potential. We are inviting a multi-disciplinary group who have already applied to use the iMCD datasets or have shown a keen interest in the project.

Featured below and attached is a highly topical dissertation from the recent successful PhD Candidate Dr Fesseha Waldemichael. Adult literacy is a key component of global education and development agendas. It is included in the Sustainable Development Goals as a human right for the individual and a major contribution to local development. The dissertaion looks at Integrated Functional Adult Literay Education (IFALE) in Ethiopia, and is a comparative study of the implementation in Amhara and Tigray provinces.

The Robert Owen Centre for Educational Change (ROC) was launched in November 2013 to research issues of educational equity and to support the development of more equitable education systems.  The Centre is inspired by the philosophy and work of the social reformer Robert Owen, and by his connections to the local community in the West of Scotland and his wider internationalist vision and global reach.  We produce high quality, theory-driven applied research and work closely with policymakers and practitioners.

This is our third newsletter for 2018 arrives in tandem with Autumn here in Sweden. Like in many other parts around Europe, term has started which tend to imply a busy schedule for the most of us. However, I do hope that you’ll have the time to take part in some of the manifold of ESREA activities organised across Europe for the academic year. We have an existing year ahead culminating with our Triennial Conference in Belgrade next September. Make sure to add the dates (19 – 22 September 2019) to your schedule already now.
