Keeping up? Lifelong learning in Scotland - The MASON Project

This note explores data on Scotland’s performance in developing lifelong learning drawn from the MASON project, a research project from the EU Lifelong Learning Programme 2007-2013. The study allows Scottish performance on a set of composite indicators to be compared with that of other European regions.  It will also be instructive to look at Scottish performance in the light of the development scenarios identified recently by Scottish Futures Forum in their work on Scotland 2025: A Learning Nation.

New internship opportunities for students with NGO in Ghana this Summer

Ghana Health and Education Initiative (GHEI), a nonprofit organization working in the Western Region of Ghana, provides innovative internship and volunteer programs designed to engage individuals interested in international development and social justice.  These programs offer participants the opportunity to develop and strengthen their skills in cross-cultural communication, project design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and community outreach. Participants will be immersed in a rural Ghanaian community and work alongside local staff members in support of GHEI's health and education programming

Innovations in Civic Participation and the MasterCard Foundation Partner on Research Study Focused on National Youth Service Programs in Sub-Saharan Africa

Innovations in Civic Participation (ICP) and The MasterCard Foundation are undertaking a research study to assess how National Youth Service (NYS) programs in Sub-Saharan Africa can better prepare young people for the workforce.  The study, titled “National Youth Service in Sub-Saharan Africa: Strengthening NYS as a Strategy for Youth Employability, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Livelihoods”, will produce greater knowledge on how NYS programs can be designed as a youth development and employment tool, build a network of NYS staff, policy makers and practitioners focused on youth
