British Council Going Global Exploratory Grant

News

The relationship between the University of Glasgow’s School of Education and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune has been strengthened over the last two years as staff from both institutions worked collaboratively on a range of projects to strengthen and promote STEM pedagogies and Collaborative, Online, International Learning (COIL) for pre-service and in-service science teachers.

In 2021 CR&DALL Associate Dr Gabriela Rodolico was granted International Partnership Development Funding (IPDF) for a series of workshops based on a STEM challenge, in collaboration with tutors from the IISER Pune. Based on this project’s outcomes (soon available within the University of Glasgow Connect Newsletter ) Dr Rodolico and her colleagues Dr Sally Zacharias, and CR&DALL core member Dr Barbara Read both from School of Education and tutors from IISER Pune, have been awarded a British Council Going Global Exploratory Grant to develop the workshops into a full course based on the nature of the STEM and Engineering design process, as well as language and gender in STEM promoting a holistic approach to STEM teacher education.

This first exploratory stage will allow the teams to explore how best to embed it into ongoing courses at both Institutions to ensure sustainability and to scale-up impact.
