CR&DALL core members, Dr. Kate Reid and Professor Catherine Lido, have just completed a 12-month commissioned research project with social enterprise and charity partner ‘Food Train’, and their impact and evidence arm, ‘Eat Well Age Well’, in February 2020.
They recently held a webinar with MSPs and other stakeholders as part of the organisation’s activities for UK Malnutrition Awareness Week to highlight the need for political and policy intervention to tackle malnutrition and food insecurity. Follow this link to view a full recording of the session: In the Wake of Covid-19 Supporting Older People to Eat Well Age Well & Live Well.
Below are some of the co-produced resources launched as part of malnutrition awareness week:
- Final research report: Exploring Household Food Security and Malnutrition Risk with Psychosocial Indicators of Healthy Ageing in Place: The Food Train - Eat Well Age Well Partnership. However, the study found food support services such as Food Train located in local communities emerged as a valuable source of empowerment of older adults’ life. See research summary;
- Eat Well Age Well project report - Hidden Problem which includes our 4 calls to action -on screening, training, investment, and understanding the problem which focuses on real change for older people. Our calls to action have been shaped by your input, this research, and our learning across the project over the last 2.5 years.
Food Train will need your continued support on their Calls to Action in going forward so please keep supporting them on social media @EatWellScot using the #TimeforChangeScot.
