Educational Peacebuilding | Briefing Paper 5: Medellin's cultural transformation

This briefing summarizes emergent findings from public policy analysis and interviews with 50 citizens of Medellin from a variety of sectors in 2020, many of whom had directly participated in the societal transformation that began during the 1980s. We aim to show that cultural inclusion, democratic and civic culture are crucial aspects of Medellin's cultural transformation.

The CR&DALL project, Educational Peacebuilding in Medellin and Acapulco: Understanding the role of education, culture and learning in responding to crises, is funded by the British Academy under its Education and Learning in Crisis programme through the UK's Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy via the Global Challenges Research Fund from March 2020 to December 2021.
