The SCQF Partnership Network's Recognition of Prior Learning Annual Conference will be taking place on Tuesday 19 November 2013 at the newly opened 200 St Vincent Street, Glasgow. The event is only a few weeks away, this is why you should be there.

  • You will hear from a range of speakers including Scottish Government on the strategic developments around RPL both in Scotland and across Europe  
  • You will be able to contribute ideas to a number of pertinent issues around RPL in Scotland 
  • You will be able to share good practice in the use of RPL for supporting transitions across all stages of the learner journey both in Scotland and beyond through a number of interactive workshops including:
    • Using the Framework for RPL in Higher Education - The QAA Scotland and Universities Scotland have been working with institutions to develop a National Framework for RPL for the HE Sector.  Marty Wright and Sandra Menzies will explain how they are using the framework from both new and experienced practitioner perspectives and how it is endeavouring to address the issues that practitioners and learners find difficult when engaging with RPL
    • The REAL Project - Making Experience Count for Adult Educators - The Recognition of Experiential & Accredited Learning Project (REAL) project focuses on enabling adult educators whose skills, knowledge and competence has been gained through practice experience and in-service training rather than through a formal qualification process, to have this learning recognised and validated.  Hear more about how project aims to produce a toolkit which will be used to enable adult educators to benchmark their own experience against their national qualifications framework
    • RPL for All - Staff and students from the Kilmarnock Campus of Ayrshire College will highlight the use of RPL in the transitions from school to college and onwards through progressions pathways to Higher Education and employment for students with few or no formal  qualifications
    • Recognising Experience in Scotland's Police Force - The Scottish Police College will highlight innovative practices in relation to RPL and how they have embedded RPL processes into their practice and procedures at the college
