The Activate Team (led by Helen Martin) has won this year’s "Giving Back to Glasgow" prize at the 2017 University of Glasgow Knowledge Exchange & Public Engagement Awards.
Activate is a partnership programme between local communities, local organisations and the University of Glasgow, providing an introduction to community development. Currently Activate partners include housing associations & neighbourhood groups, 3rd Sector organisations, National campaigning organisations, Scottish Prison Service and local & national government. It is an innovative project that promotes diversity and helps unlock the potential in students.
Activate operates out of the premise that people living in communities facing multiple levels of deprivation do not lack the ability but often the opportunity. Activate and the University of Glasgow provide that opportunity – ensuring they constantly give back to Glasgow. For those of you who don’t know what it involves, see https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/education/cpd/activate/
This award is so well deserved.
