Congratulations to Mia Perry for securing funding of almost £100,000 to continue the work of the Sustainable Futures in Africa (SFA) Network from funding allocated to the University of Glasgow from the Scottish Funding Council to support work within the Global Challenges Research Fund. SFA is an interdisciplinary collective established in 2016 bringing together researchers, educators, and communities across 4 African countries and the UK. This project will resource the leadership, administrative support, and research infrastructure developed over the past 18 months to ensure the network’s success.

With a commitment to methodologies of engagement (across disciplines, sectors, cultures), the network is concerned broadly with environmental degradation in relation to education and cultural practices. The long-term goal is sustainability through partnerships that support genuine and decolonial collaboration across Northern and Southern partners. To this end we are strengthening capacity and leadership across regions. This project will employ a new Africa-based and NGO-affiliated co-director of the network; as well as develop the internal capacity of the 5 hubs; and support the annual network symposium in Kampala, Uganda, February 2019.
