The Robert Owen Centre for Educational Change (ROC) was launched in November 2013 to research issues of educational equity and to support the development of more equitable education systems.  The Centre is inspired by the philosophy and work of the social reformer Robert Owen, and by his connections to the local community in the West of Scotland and his wider internationalist vision and global reach.  We produce high quality, theory-driven applied research and work closely with policymakers and practitioners.

ROC's work is organised into three strands:

• Equality and Public Policy
• International Development
• Systems Change, Leadership and Governance.

This academic year the Robert Owen Centre has organised fortnightly lunchtime seminars on Tuesdays during term time. The aim of these seminars is to showcase policy-relevant research in a methodologically self-contained and transparent style, which is accessible to a diverse audience. We aim to promote more equitable education systems through theory-driven, applied research underpinned by a commitment to the principles of social justice and lifelong learning. We undertake high quality internationally recognised research that blurs the boundaries and strengthens the connection between research, policy and practice. We have a strong commitment to working with those in the field to develop local approaches that make a difference to the life chances of learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.
