Registrations are now live for the UALL Annual Conference 2019, Lifelong Learning and Innovation taking place at the Telford Innovation Campus, University of Wolverhampton on 10-12th April 2019.

Submissions are still open for papers, workshops proposals AND the UALL Award! The final deadline is 11th January 2019.

We are looking for submissions that fit around our three conference themes:

  • Learning and Place: focusing on where innovation occurs including both the role of learning in responding to innovation and new initiatives linked to place and the way learning is embedded in it, for example, Learning Cities, Towns or Communities, or learning in the changing context of work, leisure, family, travel and tourism.

    We are happy to announce that Mr Anthony Painter, Director of the RSA’s Action and Research Centre will be our Keynote speaker on this conference theme;
     
  • Transformational change: focusing on how innovation occurs and the link to Lifelong Learning for example emerging technologies, practice based approaches.

    Professor Mark Brown from Dublin City University is our Keynote speaker on this theme. Professor Brown is Ireland’s first Professor of Digital Learning and is Director of the National Institute for Digital Learning (NIDL);
     
  • Innovation in Daily Life and Lifelong Learning: focusing on ensuring that innovation is shared by all for example innovative inclusive or accessible responses to learning in work, leisure, travel education. Speaker TBC

 

How to submit your proposals:

Paper presentations: please submit a short version of your paper, of 1000 words, including an abstract of between 50 – 100 words. Those accepted to present papers will be invited to submit a full paper for consideration for publication in a special issue of the journal Widening Participation and Lifelong Learning (Open University)

Workshops: please send an abstract of between 250 – 300 words detailing the aims of our workshop and the ways in which you will engage your participants in interaction

UALL Awards: the Awards celebrates projects, programmes, partnerships, and research that promote lifelong learning in the Higher Education Sector and are open for all UALL members.

There are four categories:

  • Innovation

  • Sustainability

  • Research

  • International

The submission is based on a maximum of 1200 words and can include some suitable images or web links, as appropriate. Please be sure to indicate which category you wish to be considered for in your submission.

All shortlisted applicants will be invited to showcase their work/ project at the 2019 Annual Conference.
