On 8 September 2020, UNESCO will celebrate International Literacy Day under the theme 'Literacy teaching and learning in the COVID-19 crisis and beyond'. The global virtual event, organized together with UIL, invites stakeholders to discuss how innovative and effective pedagogies and teaching methodologies can be used in youth and adult literacy programmes to face the pandemic. From 21 to 29 July 2020, UIL in cooperation with DVV International and the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE), held regional webinars on 'Enhancing national capacities for monitoring adult learning and education' to support the data collection process for the upcoming fifth Global Report on Adult Learning and Education. UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities
