Program highlightsOur program is all about exploring the different ways learning changes lives. Keynotes include Dr Tony Birch, Marcia Howard, Bronwyn Lee, Dr Peggy Brown, Dr Tracey Ollis and Dr Tony Brown. Asylum seekers & learningGillian and Abiola from the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre will share their approach to ensuring people seeking asylum can advance their future through ASRC's education programs and partnerships. Learning communitiesKathleen will talk about the Devonport Community Live and Learn Strategy, which represents a major commitment by the community to develop Devonport into a place to live and a place to learn. Writing with convictionMelissa & Simon, literacy coordinators at Tasmania's Risdon Prison will talk about the Artists With Conviction program, which is giving inmates a chance to rehabilitate by revealing themselves as artists. Valuing other perspectives Clair Andersen from University of Tasmania will develop our knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the context of learning, and the impact of culture, cultural identity and linguistic background. Find out more. Impact of low literacy Anita, manages LINC Tasmania's 26TEN initiative. She will look behind the statistics at what it really means to be an adult with low literacy, and how everyone can help. She will also share the lessons learnt during the life of the 26TEN program.
