Australia’s Aboriginal cultures are the oldest continuous cultures on Earth. As such, they can draw upon rich and deep wells of wisdom. So what can we learn from these cultures? Much is written and spoken about what Aboriginal people need to learn, when we need to equally focus on what Aboriginal people can teach.

Any movement toward lifelong and lifewide learning in Australia has to be fuelled by positive disruption and a renaissance of Indigenous wisdom. What role is there for advocates of lifelong and lifewide learning in working with Eldership and community leadership so that others prosper and gain from their wisdom, while at same time, Elders prosper from the youthful spring of lifelong learning?

Community learning environments that are keen to foster stronger relationships with Aboriginal communities would benefit from this webinar, which will explore concepts of wisdom, Eldership, empowerment, reciprocal learning, and practical measures to build Aboriginal perspectives into adult and community learning, as opposed to having them ‘bolted on’.
