This 8 part online professional learning series brings together experts in adult numeracy education to explore effective numeracy teaching for adults – with a strong emphasis on fun and engagement. Expert presenters will address different aspect of numeracy offering strategies to use with individuals as well as small or whole group work.

Session 3: Connecting the dots with numeracy

Practical strategies that support adults to make connections between fractions, percentages, and decimals.
Session 4: Exploring numeracy in our everyday lives

Explores numeracy embedded in everyday life such as cooking, gardening, health management – including concepts such as measurement, fractions etc.
Session 5: Getting from here to there with numeracy
22nd June 1.00 – 2.00pm AEST
Practical strategies that will help educators support adults to use maps (including digital maps), follow directions and travel with ease to new locations.
Session 6: Numeracy, sporting statistics and big data
27th July 1.00 – 2.00pm AEST
Hands on approaches that use sport, health and recreation to reveal quantitative and statistical numeracy concepts as they relate to everyday life.
Session 7: Making sense of money and your finances
17th August 1.00 – 2.00pm AEST
Creates links between numeracy and financial literacy – covering key numeracy concepts including calculations, numbers and decimals, etc.
Session 8: Developing basic numeracy for the workplace
8th September 1.00 – 2.00pm AEST
Explores ways to support adults with workplace numeracy concepts.
