***CALL FOR PAPERS: ‘EDUCATION AND TRANSFORMATIVE PRACTICE’
International Paulo Freire Conference, 5-7 September 2017, Cyprus***
Our second International Paulo Freire Conference is being held in September at the UCLan, Cyprus Campus and we have Professor Ana Maria (Nita) Freire among our keynote speakers.
The event is organized by the University of Central Lancashire’s Centre for Volunteering & Community Leadership and the Freire Institute.
The conference theme focuses on six key themes emerging out of recent events and trends:
- Education with Migrant and Transient Communities
- Gender and Education
- Popular Education Theory and Practice
- Education and Development
- Social Media, Technology and Culture
- Inequality and the Commodification of Education
We would welcome proposals for papers to be presented at the conference, and selected papers (subject to peer review) will be published in a volume of conference proceedings.

Abstracts of 300-500 words should be submitted no later than 31 March 2017, and full papers by 30 June 2017.
