Kingston University has established an international reputation for high quality, innovative research - a reputation confirmed by the recent REF2014 results which show that the University has world-leading research across all its five faculties.
Kingston is again seeking to make substantial investment in new PhD studentships for awards beginning in 2016-17.
The competition for these prestigious research studentships is now open to students who wish to study for a full-time PhD at Kingston University. Funding is at Home/EU level only.
We are looking for students with expertise that matches our areas of research excellence -studentships will be available across the five faculties.

Studentship details
Expected start date: September 2016
Fee level of sponsorship: UK/EU fee only – currently £4,121 in 2016/17
International candidates selected for interview would need to demonstrate that they can fund the difference in fees for each year of registration – currently £9004 for 2015/16.
Stipend: £16,296
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- have a postgraduate Master's degree or a first/upper second class honours degree or equivalent in a subject relevant to your proposed research programme.
- Be intending to research in an area that is covered by Kingston University research expertise
- Be intending to study full-time
*If you are not from an English speaking country or have not studied at a UK university before you will need to provide proof of Internet-based IELTS at a minimum overall score of 6.5 (or equivalent qualification), however there are variances in faculties - please contact the relevant faculty for further details.
Please note that:
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted
- Existing doctoral degree students cannot apply.
- These studentships cannot be held on a part-time basis
- Tuition fees will be paid at Home/EU level only for 3-years. International students may apply but, if short-listed, will be required to provide evidence as to how the remaining part of their fees will be paid.

- Copies of your degree certificates, or transcripts if you have not yet completed the degree (you will be required to provide the originals for verification at a later date
- English language qualification, if applicable (see above *)
References are not required with the application, but will be required for shortlisted applicants and must be provided by the applicant before their interview.

Only one application and proposal can be accepted per person.
For applications in Science, Engineering and Computing, please see the list of current projects available. If you are applying to one of these projects you do not need to include a project proposal, instead please include a note of the title and supervisor.

Closing date
Complete applications must be received by GMT midnight 18 March 2016.
Applicants invited for interview will be informed as soon as possible after the closing date.
You should assume that your application has been unsuccessful if you have not heard from the University by 6 weeks after the closing date.
