CR&DALL hosted an important national seminar this week in collaboration with the Federation for Community Development Learning, the CLD Standards Council, the Scottish Community Development Centre and the Scottish Community Development Network.
Academics, policy makers and practitioners gathered at Glasgow University to review the National Occupational Standards for Community Development as part of a UK-wide process which will shape the way Community Development as a field of practice is shaped in the coming years and how workers are trained, recruited, supervised and developed over their careers.
The meeting identified a number of issues which will inform the national debate on CD Values, principles and practices centring on how best to support communities to have influence on the decisions which effect their lives particularly at a time when people are experiencing the impact of poverty and the resources of the state are being constrained.
