All across Europe on the last Friday in September the EU celebrates research and researchers with huge public engagement events. Scotland’s three biggest cities joined the party to showcase our work to the wider community and invite people to get up close and hands on with our world leading research.
Explorathon is collaboration between the Universities of Glasgow, Strathclyde, Aberdeen, St Andrews and the four Edinburgh Universities. The event is funded by the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions programme.
Along with three PhD students from the School of Education, Dr Margaret Sutherland, Depute Director CR&DALL and Dr Niamh Stack visited a primary school in Glasgow on Friday 30 September. Through a series of games, the researchers and students explained the work they do in education to 60 ten year old pupils. They also highlighted the many ground-breaking research projects being undertaken in the University of Glasgow. It is a great opportunity to introduce young people to the work of Universities and to the many exciting world changing that are going on in their own city!
