We would like to invite you to the fourth College Higher Education (HE) Research and Scholarship Conference. This year's conference will take place on Tuesday 24 April 2018 in Birmingham.

The conference will highlight scholarship and research in the college HE sector and launch the Scholarship Project's scholarship framework.

In addition to exploring the latest research and scholarly activity in college higher education, this conference will launch and demonstrate the Scholarship Framework – the key output from the HEFCE Catalyst Funded project.  You will hear from colleges who have agreed to become early adoptees of the framework, and from colleagues who have been responsible for producing new scholarship policy documents for their colleges.  The day will also include a discussion of the links between scholarly activity and the Teaching Excellence Framework, the annual provider review process, and applications for degree awarding powers. This unique national event is aimed exclusively at advancing research and scholarship in college settings.

Advantages of attending the conference:

  • You will be informed of the latest research and developments in the field of college higher education;
  • You will hear ideas on how to enhance your own college’s scholarly practices and policies.

We welcome contributions and abstracts for this year’s conference. More details can be found on the abstracts submission page.

Abstract submission deadline: Friday 2 February 2018

We are inviting contributions and abstracts to the conference from new and established authors.  Contributions may be in the form of papers, posters or workshop sessions. If you would like to submit an abstract* or poster for the conference, please visit the conference webpages.

This year the themes are:

  • Colleges and employers working in partnership;

  • Developing college HE teachers and managers.
There is a special discounted conference fee for AoC member colleges of £165+VAT.
