Presenter(s):
The Centre for Sustainable, Healthy and Learning Cities and Neighbourhoods (SHLC) is very pleased to be welcoming Honorary Professor at the University of Glasgow and the former Head of Urban Affairs and Regulatory Policy Divisions at the OECD, Josef Konvitz, to present a guest lecture on 20 November entitled The Future of Sustainable Neighbourhoods.
Globalisation has spurred urban development around the world and has helped billions of people to move out of poverty. But, globalisation is also blamed for widening inequality which is fuelling populism and protectionism.
These political trends, which reflect regional disparities within countries, are jeopardizing the gains realized worldwide in terms of better incomes, better education, better health, and will make sustainability and the challenge of climate change, particularly in urban areas, much more difficult to address.
In his guest lecture, Professor Konvitz will explore three important areas: 1) Place-based design; 2) multi-level governance; 3) the impact of climate change at neighborhood level.
The event will take place in the Yudowitz Lecture Theatre of the Wolfson Medical Building from 14:30-16:30.
All welcome!
Register to attend via the SHLC website.
We looking forward to seeing you there!
Best wishes
Gail
