I am very pleased to announce that five core members of CR&DALL have recently received promotions at the University of Glasgow. Lavinia Hirsu, Srabani Maitra, and Kate Reid have each been promoted to Senior Lecturer; Catherine Lido and Bonnie Slade have been promoted to professor, making our complement of chairs in Adult Education four, which surely might represent a unique moment in the field in the UK.

Each of these colleagues has assembled an impressive portfolio of research and teaching in the field of adult education over the past few years, as illustrated by some of the examples below, which collectively illustrate the concern of the School of Education at Glasgow and CR&DALL with research that is international and inter-disciplinary, and which focuses on adult learners, social inclusion and place.

• Lavinia Hirsu, Senior Lecturer in Applied Linguistics, Composition and English as a Foreign Language, has been a co-investigator in a project funded by the  British Academy within its Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), Cities and Infrastructure Programme, Strengthening Urban Engagement of Universities in Asia and Africa (SUEUAA), within which her leading contribution focused on policy rhetoric.
• Srabani Maitra, Senior Lecturer in Sociology of Education, is a co-I within two major ESRC-funded, GCRF projects, Gendered Journeys: The Trajectories of STEM Students and Graduates through Higher Education and Employment in multiple Global South Contexts and Can Dual Apprenticeships Create Better and More Equitable Social and Economic Outcomes for Young People? A Comparative Study of India and Mexico
• Kate Reid, Senior Lecturer in Psychology of Education, is the PI of the project, Assessing older adults’ nutritional and wellbeing outcomes associated with ageing in place with supported food accessibility: a mixed-methods, biopsychosocial analysis. This work is being undertaken in partnership with Eat Well Age Well and Food Train and is funded through the Community Lottery Fund. 
• Catherine Lido, Professor of Psychology and Adult Education is Associate Director of the Urban Big Data Centre leading the centre’s work on education and disadvantage, and also is a Co-I in the EPSRC funded project, Inclusion Matters: Virtual in Situ Networking for Engineering Training (VisNET) and Gendered Journeys: The Trajectories of STEM Students and Graduates through Higher Education and Employment in multiple Global South Contexts
• Bonnie Slade, Professor of Adult Education for Social Change, is Programme Leader of the prestigious EC funded International Master in Adult Education for Social Change (Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Degree) and also is a Co-I within  Gendered Journeys: The Trajectories of STEM Students and Graduates through Higher Education and Employment in multiple Global South Contexts.

This provides just a taste of what each of our colleagues does, but is enough to illustrate the fantastic contributions that they have made to CR&DALL. Their promotions are very well deserved, and it is pleasure to know that the field of adult education is in such capable hands in Glasgow. Their challenge now is to complete this story.
