Two recent reports by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine provide a starting point for measuring longstanding disparities in key educational opportunities and outcomes. Monitoring Educational Equity puts forward a set of research-based indicators of educational equity that address students’ educational outcomes from pre-K through high school graduation and their access to the educational resources and opportunities that are essential to achieve those outcomes. Building Educational Equity Indicator Systems builds on that foundation to help states and districts take steps to begin collecting data on the indicators.

These reports recommend creating systems of educational equity indicators at the national, state, and local levels. Much work remains to be done to make those indicator systems a reality. Participants in this webinar will discuss implications and next steps for federal, state, and district education policy makers.
Speakers will include:
  • Christopher Edley (Monitoring Educational Equity chair), Berkeley Law and The Opportunity Institute
  • Kristen Harper, Child Trends
  • Andrew Ho, Harvard University and National Assessment Governing Board member
  • Paige Kowalski, Data Quality Campaign
