British University in Dubai - 7th Doctoral Research conference

The British University in Dubai (BUiD) was established 20 years ago and is supported by three UK partners, the University of Glasgow, the University of Edinburgh and the University of Manchester. It is the work of the Faculty of Education that is the focus of collaboration with the University of Glasgow, and includes both research collaborations and external quality assurance reviews of Masters and Doctoral programmes.

One of its flagmark events is its annual Doctoral Research Conference now in its 7th year, and the School of Education was delighted that Professor Michael Osborne, Director of CR&DALL, was able to offer a keynote address to the conference on 8 July 2023 on the topic of Research Quality drawing on his experience of being REF 2021 champion for Education at the university. He is seen here following his keynote with Professor Abdullah Al Shamsi, Vice-Chancellor of BUiD, His Excellency Mirza Al Sayegh, a member of the Board of Trustees of the BUiD from the Al Maktoum Foundation, and Dr Khalid Al Marri, Dean of Research at BUiD.

Subsequently he was a reviewer of presentations from students at the conference with Dr Solomon Arulraj David, Associate Professor of Education at BUiD with whom he is also pictured below.
